Football team Rubin

In the thirties of the XX century in the Gorbunov  factory was formed a football team, that quickly became one of the strongest teams of Kazan.

The name of the team because it represented the defence enterprise which needed the certain regime of secrecy, constantly changed - the Team of Lenin district (P/Ya 747), "Kryliya  Sovetov", "Iskra" and, at last, "Rubin".

As "Rubin" became the champion of Russia in 2008, it has gained the right to play in the League of Champions UEFA: the team began the tournament from the group lap. In 2009 the rivals of Kazan club at the present point of time are the incumbent winner of the Champions' League the Spanish "Barcelona", the Italian "Inter" and the Kiev's "Dinamo".

The third Rubin's match - 20.10.09 has become the real sensation! Rubin gained the victory over the current winner of this tournament "Barcelona" on its field with the score 2:1. In the honor of the victory of Rubin over Barcelona the citizens of Kazan planted the "Rubin avenue" of 150 trees on the bank of the lake Kaban.

November 2009 «Rubin» in the drawn home match against «Zenit» (St Petersburg), became the Сhampion of Russia for the second time!

Rubin is the Cup of CIS 2010 and the Supercup of Russia 2010 holder.
